St. John is an island in the Caribbean Sea part of the United States Virgin Islands (USVI), an unincorporated territory of the United States. It is the smallest of the three main islands: Saint John, Saint Thomas, and Saint Croix. St. John is located in the Caribbean Sea about 4 miles east of Saint Thomas, the location of the territory’s capital, Charlotte Amalie, and 4 miles south and west of Tortola, part of the British Virgin Islands. It is 50.8 km² (19.61 sq mi) in area and has a population of 4,197 (2000 census) [1]. Because there are no airports on St. John, there is only access to the island by boat. Ferry service runs hourly from St. Thomas and daily from Tortola; regular ferries are also available from Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, and Anegada.

  1. St John is a magical island which we first fell in love with 30 years ago upon our first trip. After years of visiting and staying in just about every villa on St John a few years ago we finally bit the bullet and bought land. We built and now own Great Expectations, a 5 bedroom villa with a 2 bedroom guest house with both sunrise and sunset views, pools and hot tubs (yes 2 of each!), a private tennis court and hammocks for all! Great Expectations has been called one the the best villas on St John. See for yourself by visiting our website - and then coming to Great Expectations. By contacting us directly we will offer you a great DISCOUNT. Call us at 800 553-0109.
